StopDiary is designed to work without knowing who you are. Specifically, the app does not:
StopDiary asks for access to your location, set to "Always", to receive the visits that iOS recognizes on its own: the place where you stopped, with arrival and departure time. The app never turns on continuous GPS tracking and does not record your route.
These visits are saved only on your iPhone, to build your diary. They are never sent to the developer.
StopDiary reads the motion history that your iPhone keeps (still, walking, cycling, driving) to tell when a stop begins and ends. This history is read on the device, used to compute your stops and kept only on your iPhone.
To show the map and the address of a stop, StopDiary uses Apple services built into iOS (MapKit and the iOS geocoder). To turn a stop into an address, its coordinates are sent to Apple, without any identifier from StopDiary. These requests are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. Addresses already found are saved on your iPhone, so the same place is not asked again.
You can lock StopDiary with Face ID or your passcode. Authentication is handled entirely by iOS: the app never receives or stores your face data or your passcode.
Reports in PDF and CSV are created on your iPhone only when you ask for one. You choose where to send them (Mail, Messages, Files and so on); from then on, that copy is governed by the app or service you choose. The StopDiary lock does not protect files you have exported.
StopDiary keeps the following data in its own storage on your iPhone:
This data is never transmitted to the developer. Like the data of other apps, it is included in your iPhone backups (for example iCloud Backup, if you have turned it on). Deleting StopDiary deletes all of its data from your iPhone.
StopDiary uses only Apple frameworks. It contains no third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking libraries.
Since the app does not collect any personal data, no data about children is collected either.
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address, with a new date at the top of the page.
